Impact of a collision reduced by Impact Barriers

This is about the day that changed the way i used to perceive life. This is the day that the 'Drive safe' signboards all over the city made sense to me. The realization to value life, only comes when you see a near death situation and come very close to loosing your life.


It was a normal evening and me and my friends were driving back from college towards our home across the river. My friend was behind the wheels and he suddenly started driving really fast on the bridge. By the time we could stop him or could make him understand that this was dangerous, he lost control, the car turned twice and collided with an Impact Barrier, placed at the end of the bridge.All of us, were in deep shock and could not understand what happened to us. The Impact Barrier was placed at the critical intersection where the car turned and helped us reduce the impact of the head on collision.


Impact barriers comprise of high water ballast, that reduces injury to errand drivers and their unique three layer construction with foaming in the middle adds to extra strength of the barrier. The High reflectivity of an Impact Barrier gives an early warning to rash drivers. They also have extremely high anti abrasion properties.


This incident has made me more safety conscious, while on the road, and has also made me more knowledgeable about other safety designs on the road, especially placed for us. Most of the times whenever I drive around the city, I see very few barriers across to control the traffic or slow it down. But the need for these barriers increases every day when there are huge numbers of accidents being reported everyday due to negligence.

It’s time that more traffic barriers and plastic safety barriers are used to regulate the flow of traffic on roads.  They are chiefly devices that are used to regulate the rush-hour traffic. They can be utilized in a wide range of conditions, from situations where barriers may be required for security to actions at which short-term traffic re-direction is essential. Several firms assemble a variety of traffic barriers, and most sections of transport and public protection uphold a range of barriers in storage services which they can carry out as desired.

Alongside traffic barriers, it is mostly essential to use traffic signs. These signs alert the drivers to forthcoming accidents in the street which may be imperative to discern, such as a re-routing of traffic, or the amalgamation of a prevailing path.
